Children & Young People

Children and Young People are our future – but they are so often neglected and left behind. At Minerva we recognise this, and from our beginnings in the 1990s we have worked with charities which put children and young people first and support those that are most marginalised in our society.

These charities cater for a wide range of challenges facing children and young people – but they all have a common goal of enabling them to live happy and successful lives.

Thank you for all your help in supporting the Society in its work with children and families in need. You have made a real difference.
Richard Gordon, Director of Business Administration

St Francis’ Children’s Society is a regional children’s charity and specialist adoption agency providing services to people for whom adoption is, has been or might become a part of their life.

The Charity’s approach is universal, and they welcome all kinds of families for all kinds of children, particularly families for children from Black and Minority Ethnic communities, older children, sibling groups and children with additional needs.

I would like to thank you for all your work fundraising for Star.
Lynne Fordyce, Chair

Star Bereavement and Support Service provides support for children and young people between the ages of 0 and 25 years who have been bereaved or suffered significant loss. The charity works to improve their emotional wellbeing and resilience. Star Bereavement supports children, young people and young adults across their early intervention and intervention bereavement pathway.

There have been impactful developments in the bereavement service offer including the roll out of new grief cafes which provide a drop in grief advice, activity and chat service for young people, parents, carers, families, young adults and professionals in the Wakefield District and a successful schools groups programme. This has created much needed opportunities to change the conversation around grief, death and bereavement.

Other charities we have worked with in this field include:

  • Centre 33
  • The Larches Trust
  • Nene Valley Care Trust
  • Licensed Trade Charity
  • Northampton Door to Door Service
  • Northampton Hope Centre
  • Skinners’ Company Almshouses Charity
  • True Volunteer Foundation

We Are Here To Help

At Minerva we realise the challenges faced by small charities which are suffering financially through the loss of statutory grants or Service Level Agreements and other contracts. We are geared to helping charities in this position to raise the funds they need in the most cost-effective way.
